Can’t make it into the salon every other week? We hear you. Here's how our editors use root concealer spray to extend the time between hair coloring appointments.
Root concealer spray is a simple and effective way to temporarily cover up gray roots or regrowth between hair coloring sessions, and you can achieve a flawless application in five easy steps.
1. Choose the Right Shade
Start by selecting a root concealer spray that closely matches your hair color. In the October 2023 Allure Beauty Box, members can choose their preferred shade of Style Edit’s Root Concealer Touch Up Spray to make sure the color blends seamlessly.
2. Prep Your Hair
Make sure your hair is clean and dry. Root concealer spray works best on dry hair, as it adheres better and provides a more natural finish.
3. Section Your Hair
Divide your hair into sections to make the application easier. Use hair clips or ties to separate the areas where you need coverage.
4. Spray the Roots
Shake the spray can thoroughly to mix the product and ensure an even application. Hold it a few inches away from your roots and apply a light, even mist of the concealer spray. Start at the roots and work your way out, covering the regrowth or gray areas.
5. Blend and Style
Use your fingers or a comb to gently blend the sprayed area with the rest of your hair. Style your hair as usual to ensure the concealer is evenly distributed. For extra hold and longevity, finish with a light spritz of hairspray to set the root concealer in place.
