Getting Warmer

Like slushy drinks and Popsicles, the products in July’s Allure Beauty Box are refreshing summer treats. There’s a skin-cooling balm from Tula that feels heavenly and de-puffs undereyes, a rum-inspired perfume oil from Malin + Geotz that will have you dreaming of beachy nights, and a gold-flecked primer from Yves Saint Laurent that warms skin with the kind of glow you’d get during sunset. These are Allure editors’ favorite ways to cool things down—and heat them up—this summer.

July Highlights

TULA SKINCARE GLOW + GET IT COOLING & BRIGHTENING EYE BALM

Why you’ll love it: There’s no dipping your fingers into a pot of cream here. Tula’s brightening, hydrating undereye treatment comes in a stick that’s easy to swipe under your eyes—and gratifying too. The balm feels cool and refreshing going on and the chill actually lasts well after application—a neat trick that energizes tired eyes and helps wake you up as you drink your morning coffee. (Skin care that delivers this kind of sensorial experience is about to become a bigger trend.) Keep it next to your computer and you might even find yourself reapplying throughout hot summer days—a quick pick-me-up for your eyes and your mood.

How you’ll use it: Swipe the balm across your undereyes and over your brow bones and crow’s feet to treat the whole area to the cooling hyaluronic acid-infused formula.

MALIN + GOETZ DARK RUM PERFUME OIL

Why you’ll love it: If dark and stormies remind you of summer nights, this perfume oil with its notes of rum and ripe plum will be a nostalgic hit. It’s inspired by that classic sailors’ favorite—bay rum—with a sweetly crisp finish that makes the overall effect sparkling, not boozy.

How you’ll use it: Run the perfume oil over your pulse points (wrists, neck, even the back of your knees) for a breezy summer fragrance.

YSL BEAUTY TOUCHE ÉCLAT BLUR PRIMER

Why you’ll love it: This primer has a glittering golden effect in the bottle, but on skin it’s all radiance with no obvious shimmer. It gives base staying power and makes your complexion feel smoother. The primer’s glow is so pretty, though, you might want to wear it on its own.

How you’ll use it: Smooth a little over your skin as a prep step for foundation or mix it into your favorite base in the palm of your hand before applying—it gives you a sheer, glowier finish.

BYROE GOLDEN CARROT OVERNIGHT RELIEF MASK

Why you’ll love it: With hydrating superstars squalane, glycerin, and shea butter, this mask helps make skin softer while you sleep. “I woke up to brighter skin—and zero stains on my pillowcase,” says Allure’s Dianna Mazzone. It’s a perfect way to end your day and undo the drying effects of time spent in the sun or air conditioning.

How you’ll use it: Use this before bed in place of your usual nighttime moisturizer whenever you’re looking for extra hydration.
